Gallbladder Surgery (Cholecystectomy)-

Gallbladder problems can cause painful attacks.  These happen most times after meals.  The most common symptoms of a gallbladder attack are:

bulletBack pain or pain in the right shoulder blade
bulletA dull ache beneath the ribs
bulletSevere pain in the upper abdomen that may come and go or remain constant
bulletNausea, vomiting, upset stomach, and/or heartburn

The surgeon uses physical exam, health history, and symptoms to evaluate the extent of gallbladder disease.

Diagnostic testing, such as ultra sounds, blood tests, and CT imaging tests may also be required.

Most of the time gallstones are the problem and when this happens it is necessary to remove the gallbladder.  Gallbladder surgery can be done either laparoscopic or open.  After surgery and recovery time, you can return to a normal diet and live a full and healthy life without the gallbladder.
